Here is a selection of work completed by members during the Coronavirus lockdown. Thank heavens for our shared love of stitching. Member Eileen Blaney coined the word ‘SABLE’ to describe an embroiderers cupboard stuffed with fabric, threads, unfinished projects etc. SABLE stands for ‘Stash Acquired Beyond Life Expectancy’ (in other words, there’s no chance I will use this lot up any time soon’). However, this lockdown period may finally make a dent in our stashes, as we complete some of those projects that have sat in the cupboards for years. So far the earliest unfinished project was sent in by Valerie Robinson; her embroidered table-cloth was started as her bottom-drawer project when she got engaged…in 1964! Please keep sending in photos of what you’re working on.
